Former Test skipper and living legend, Waseem Akram, is expected to join the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) four-member cricket committee.
Former Pakistan Head Coach Mohsin Hasan Khan will head the committee as the Chairman. Other set to join are former Test captain Misbah ul Haq, and former women cricketer Urooj Mumtaz.
Sources say that PCB Chairman Ehsan Mani met with Mohsin Khan at the PCB head office to discuss committee-related matters.
“I am here in Lahore on PCB chairman’s invitation to discuss the matters relating to the committee,” stated Mohsin.
This will be committee will be an authority for domestic cricket matters and work to improve cricket in Pakistan. The idea for the creation of such a committee first came up during Najam Sethi’s time. For reasons unknown however, it was not put into action at that time.
Ehsan Mani then became PCB Chief in September. In an interview, Mani discussed his liking for the idea and that he had already taken steps towards it. He mentioned that he was currently discussing the idea with ex-cricketers but did not take any names.
Some sources claim that the former Test cricketer and commentator Ramiz Raja was also asked to join. However, he allegedly turned down the offer because of existing commitments with the ICC.
