Day 7 of the Asia Cup pitted India against Bangladesh. The Bangladeshi side that had won the toss and opted to bat first, saw its players leaving the pitch just as quickly as they had stepped foot on it. The only major innings for the team was Mehidy Hasan’s 42 from 50 balls. The few boundaries they had scored helped them a lot, despite still putting up a disappointing performance.
Both Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah took 3 wickets for the India. Ravindra Jadega however got 4, earning himself the Man of the Match award. India switched between bowling and batting pretty quickly, thanks to the early dismissals of the Bangladeshi players.
When came the time to bat, they proved themselves to be the best. Rohit Sharma smacked 83 runs from 104 balls, having not lost his wicket during the entire Indian innings. His partnership of 51 runs during the powerplay overs really boosted the team’s morale. Shakib ul Hassan was hit for a six to mark 50 runs for Rohit Sharma.
The passage towards their victory was fairly simple, although it could’ve been made complex had Bangladesh tried harder.
