Like every other day in the series this year, the 6th day of the series – 20th September 2018 – matchup took place on a Sunny morning at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi. The highly favoured underdogs, the Afghanistan team, managed to excel yet again by showing their swagger on the field.
Choosing to bat first after winning the toss against a strong Bangladesh side, they completely outclassed them. With Rashid Khan and Hasmatullah’s half centuries, the scoreboard pushed further and further. Rashid, who was celebrating his birthday that day, also found another reason to celebrate, after winning the man of the match award for his exquisite score of 57 runs which included 8 fours and 1 six. Not only did he bat well, he tantalized the Bangladesh side with his legbreaks and googlies, and managed to take 2 wickets and the loss of 13 runs.
The team was happy with the target of 255+, as the captain had mentioned earlier as well. Renowned Bangladesh batsman and bowler, Shakib Al Hasan took 4 wickets for his team, the most by any bowler in the match. He scored a few more for his team as well (32 runs) before falling to the delivery of Rashid Khan. Bangladesh lost its openers early on before Shakib Al Hasan’s arrival on the pitch. The Afghanistan bowlers kept a strict hold over them, not allowing them to score a single boundary in the first 14.1 overs. The only bit of happiness for Bangladesh was during the slog overs, when they bowled much better and took crucial wickets. Other than that, Afghanistan were a joy to watch throughout the match
