Asia Cup 2018 Day 5: India vs. Pakistan

On Wednesday 19th September 2018, the Indo Pak war of cricket that has been going on for ages took a huge turn, as India gave Pakistan a taste of its own medicine after the major setback at the Champion’s Trophy last year. They ended the game in similar fashion, giving the opposing team a real beating. Pakistan won the toss and opted to bat first.

The seamers for the Indian team bowled much better as compared to their performance against Hong Kong. Man of the Match Bhuvnesh Kumar, and Kedar Jadhav, took 3 wickets each and gave away just a few runs. The Pakistani team were left with a score of 3 for 2 wickets, as the Indian team left no room for error, unlike last time. Shoaib Malik and Babar Azam’s partnership of 82 runs increased the scoreboard a fair bit but, after their dismissal, every player went off the pitch too soon, leaving India with an easy target of 162 runs.

Rohit Sharma was bowled out after scoring a half century (52 runs in total) whereas Shikar Dhavan fell just 4 runs short of making a half century. Afterwards, the partnership of Dinesh Karthik and Ambati Rayudu slowly led the team to victory. This victory on a beautiful, sunny day boosted the confidence of the Indian Cricket team greatly and the fans now have much faith in them. On the other hand, the Pakistani fans were left feeling downcast after such a devastating blow, being outplayed the same way as they had outplayed them in 2017.
